Growing up taking numerous art classes and crafting many handmade gifts, I knew I had a passion for design and creating. This passion led me to a dual major in Advertising/PR and Psychology from Penn State University. After graduation I joined the sales team at Eddie Deen and Company Catering and Edison’s Dallas wedding event venue, where I was exposed to all aspects of the catering sales and marketing business, including my favorite – the wedding industry. I worked with over 50 couples to help them design the day of their dreams and enjoyed the uniqueness of each couple’s special day. I also worked with many other clients on philanthropic events, bat/bar mitzvahs, bridal showers, corporate events and many more.
After much success with Edison’s Dallas & Eddie Deen and Company Catering I needed a new challenge. I began working for the family business, Kinley Corporation, as a Marketing Analyst, Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager, I realized that I not only had a passion for design, but also the creation/enhancement of brands. I also realized how much I missed the wedding industry and emotional connection in working with couples.
My creative soul longed for more. Combining my advertising degree, wedding industry experience and business branding experience, The Bee’s Knees Custom Design was born.
My name is Brittany and I have a passion for simple beauty and design. I am a PROUD Penn State Alumnus where I majored in Advertising and Design, as well as Psychology. I’m a “Philly girl” turned “Texas Southern Bell,” although I swore I’d never say “y’all”…that didn’t take very long. I am a self acclaimed foodie, wino, craftinista, fashion-lover and makeup-junkie!
Enough about me, where the heck did I come up with the name? The “Bee’s Knee’s” name inspiration actually came from my Father-in-law, who is quite the character. They have a good family friend was also named Brittany and they call her “Britt.” Of course they couldn’t have two “Britt’s” around, so I was the lucky one to be called by the last syllable of my name, “Knee.” Now even my nephews refer to me as “Aunt Knee Knee” and I must admit it is pretty cute!
